Churches, Homes, and Bibles Destroyed in Pakistan Persecution
Grace Bible Church Pakistan is led and pastored by our dear friends, Faisal and Carrie John.
Faisal and I texted back and forth just prior to his recent semi-annual trip from Prescott to his native home and church in Pakistan. Little did he know what lay ahead. Many Christian Churches and homes were looted and burned in the name of Allah on August 16th, 2023, the day after Pakistan’s Day of Independence from India.
On that day, several hundred people attacked a Christian settlement in Faisalabad district, Punjab province, after two members of the Christian colony were accused of committing “blasphemy” in Jaranwala, Pakistan. This resulted in the large-scale destruction of the Christian community in that area.
Muslims worship in a structure called a mosque which is usually a place used for prayers, religious events, and community services. A religious leader in a mosque who leads people in prayers is referred to as Imam. On this day, Imams in many communities called out, through the same speaker they pray to Allah, to invoke a mob, and eye-witnessed reported thousands of humans, armed with stones and sticks, vandalized and completely destroyed a total of 28 churches, hundreds of innocent Christian family homes, and a Christian cemetery, of which Christians are not allowed to bury their dead in the same area of Muslims in Pakistan.
I first heard of Faisal (pronounced like Castle) in 1998. When I moved to Arizona in 2014, Denise and I met Faisal and Carrie in Prescott, AZ, and learned how they met. Carrie left the comfort of her American life for a short-term mission in 2006 to Nigeria and Pakistan where she met Faisal. He immediately fell in love with Carrie. (She laughingly reports that she fell in love with him after they were married.) Faisal, at that time, was a passionate believer in a Muslim stronghold. Together now, they serve the Lord with great vigor, grace, stewardship, and effectiveness to bring the Good News of Jesus to many people caught in the lies of Mohammad.
Faisal is asking for help to BLESS those most affected by Christian persecution.
We trust the Lord will provide. We pray for the persecuted church in Pakistan. Blessing Broker will match the gifts to encourage those who lost everything with the generous gifts that have already been given by our monthly partners and a few other generous “one-time” partners like yourself. But, it’s not enough. Will YOU prayerfully consider making a financial impact that will be doubled?
May the Lord bless those who are martyred, tortured, and persecuted in the Name of Jesus. (Matthew 5:10, John 15:18, Mark 10:29-30, Psalm 31:15)
